Know your skin type!

Skin is one of the largest organs of the human body. It is always in the process of renewing itself. The skin ages inexorably through time, the process begins at birth and the clock can never be turned back. However, a proper skin care regimen will make it tick more slowly. That is why it is a must to know your skin type for choosing the right skin care routine. There are basically 4 types of skin.

Normal skin: A healthy normal skin is unblemished, velvety, smooth and supple, with no enlarged pores or flaky dead cells. Sebaceous (oil) and sudoriferous (sweat) glands are working in perfect harmony so the oil and water balance is perfect.

Dry skin: There is oil and moisture deficiency. Skin is dry to touch and feels sometimes like parchment. Pores and follicles are tightly closed and inactive. Skin chaps easily, inclined to be sensitive.

Oily skin: Sebaceous(oil) glands are over active and secreting too much sebum. The oil deposited on the face makes it look shiny and dirty, especially on the nose. The pores or opening of the follicles are usually enlarged (open pores), with a tendency to form blackheads.

Combination skin: Treat this skin as two individual skins. This skin is usually dry on cheeks and greasy on center panel i.e. along the forehead, nose and chin (T-zone).
A simple way of determining your skin type:
Wipe your face with a dry tissue early in the morning soon after you are up from bed. If there is oil in it, you have a greasy skin. If you have grease only in the center panel, then you have a combination skin. If there is no grease on the tissue at all, you have either dry or normal skin. To check a dry skin, wash your face with soap and water. If the skin is left feeling stretched or too tight, shiny and parched, it is dry. If the skin feels smooth, supple and elastic, it is normal.

Knowing your skin type is one of the most important skin care tip. This is important because not every skin care product suits everyone. In fact, all the skin care products specify the type of skin they cater too.

Keep your skin moist at all times. This is one of the most important skin care tip. Don't let your skin get dry. Dryness causes the outer layer of your skin to break, leading to a rough and unattractive appearance. Use moisturizers/emollients. Moisturizers work best when applied while the skin is still damp.

Don’t: waste money on products that are not designed for your particular skin. Many women with dry skin waste money on toners while women with oily skin waste money on expensive moisturizers. Know what your skin needs and choose products accordingly. Also, remember that many over-the-counter skin care products are just as effective as more expensive designer products.

Highly Effective Indian Home remedies For Delayed Periods

Delayed periods or Irregular menstrual periods have become very common these days for a lot of women in their reproductive age and they suffer great agonies when their period does not come on time. A delay of 4-5 days may be fine but if it exceeds 8 days, then it's certainly a cause for concern. In this post, I'll be sharing highly effective Indian home remedies for your delayed periods . I'd been a long sufferer of irregular periods during my teenage to early twenties. I've tried most of the recipes here, along with Kapalabhati pranayama, yoga poses, mudras and other lifestyle habits. Now my periods are extremely regular like clockwork; not a day less or more than 28. When I look back, I'm surprised how I managed those years of anxiety and fear about my late periods.

The ache of acne (pimples)

Acne is often the bane of a pretty face. It is painful more emotionally than physically, for the scar that it leaves behind can last for a lifetime, adding to one’s miserable look & feeling. No doubt many expensive skin care clinics have mushroomed in ever nook & corner, offering to clear all the scars & blemishes on the face, but they are very expensive & charge exorbitant price for each sitting; not everyone can afford them. So why not try out this simple skin care regimen to minimize the damage caused by acne & as far as possible prevent its eruption.

Aspirin for acne-prone skin

Aspirin has been around for a long time and its health benefits are wide and varied. Aspirin , or acetylsalicylic acid is a salicylate drug, often used as an analgesic to relieve minor aches and pains , as an antipyretic to reduce fever , and as an anti-inflammatory medication. Aspirin's greatest benefit is reducing cardiovascular events including heart attacks and strokes. According to the American Heart Assoc. virtually all women are at risk of heart disease and doctors should more strongly consider prescribing a daily aspirin for their female patients. There is growing evidence to suggest regular aspirin use may reduce cancer and dementia as well. Investigators from the Women's Health Study have reported important new findings demonstrating that aspirin reduces the risk of a first stroke in women. When given to someone immediately after a heart attack, aspirin decreases death by 25%.
