Pedicure at home-easy steps

Home-pedicure is easy to do, and works wonders for your feet. Simply follow these steps and you will soon see how easy it is to have beautiful feet.

1. Begin your pedicure by carefully removing old nail polish, using a nail polish remover. Always use a good brand of remover.
2. Now you can cut your toenails and file them to give your feet a neat, well-groomed look.
3. Once you have your toenails in shape, soak your feet in a tub of warm, soapy water for about 10 to 15 minutes. Now you can remove the dry rough skin on the soles of your feet with a pumice stone. Gently rub the pumice stone in circular motion on the sides and the heel of your feet.
4. Use a nail brush to gently remove the dirt from under your nails.
5. If you have cuticle cream at home, you can now apply it around your toenails. If you don’t have cuticle cream, use oil and massage well.
6. Use a rounded orange stick to gently push back the cuticles. You should always push the cuticle back gently, never use force.
7. Apply a rich moisturizer or cream to your feet. Massage well and continue massaging for about 4 to 5 minutes. Pay special attention to the soles of your feet and heel.
8. Give your feet a few minutes to absorb the cream, and then gently wipe off the excess cream with some cotton.
9. Now you can start painting your toenails. Start by applying a base coat to the nails.
10.Choose a nail color and then apply 2 coats of it to each toenail. Always allow the nail paint to dry between coats.
11. Pedicure should be done at least once a month. If you have the time and the inclination, you can pamper your feet with pedicure twice a month. Your feet will revel in the extra attention.

I do my own pedicure all the time. Don't buy polish that are in these kits as you never know how long those kits were sitting around. It's best to buy an new individual polish. Give your feet a good soak, use a pumice brush and file yours heels, you don't want those looking raggedy if your toes look good.Take off all previous polish, clip nails straight across more square, don't round off greater chance of an ingrown nail happening. Make sure you use a base coat let dry then put on a really nice color close to the color of your dress, then a top coat to keep it chip free longer. Try a french tip on a high color

Sometimes the nails become brittle and start to clip. This can be prevented by massaging the fingers and feet with warm olive oil every week. Each night the nails may be rubbed with moisturizing creams to prevent them from becoming brittle.

Don’t shave your legs prior to a pedicure, whatever you do. Micro-abrasions from the razor create easy pathways for bacteria or fungi to enter the bloodstream. If you do get a cut or a nick, take your feet out of the water, apply a disinfectant, and finish the pedicure dry.

Harsh weather and lack of proper care can make the skin of a person rough. In areas where the temperature is very low in winter, there is no humidity in the air and the exposed skin becomes dry and rough. Home remedies are cheap and without any side effects. Some of the home remedies for making rough skin smooth are:
A small amount of turmeric powder, besan (gram flour), milk or curd can be used to make a thin paste. The paste should be applied on the rough skin, till it becomes dry and then wiped off.

    2. If the skin on the knees, elbows or feet is rough, soak in warm water for some time till it becomes soft. Then scrub with a scrubbing stone, loofah brush or glove . A pumice stone can also be used to remove the dry skin. Apply a moisturizer or a lotion with aloe vera gel after the dry skin is removed. This routine has to be followed regularly to prevent build up of rough skin.

    3. Soak almonds in water and make a paste with it. Rub it on the rough skin and keep the paste for 20 minutes. Then rinse the skin with warm water. Mix 10 mg of saffron in 1 tablespoon of milk. Apply this on the rough skin at night. Wash with lukewarm water the next day in the morning. Vaseline mixed with a skin lotion works for some people. It can be greasy, so it should be applied at night.

  11. Always try and shave your legs in a warm shower or bath, preferably after you have been in the water for a while. The reason for this is that the warm softens the hairs enough to make the shaving easier.
Or else soften your legs by wetting with warm water for 5 to 10 minutes.
Apply shaving cream on your legs and form a thick lather. Do avoid using soap in place of shaving cream, as it will dry out your skin.
Make sure that you make your legs foamy and lubricated well so as to prevent razor burns.
Place the razor at the base of your ankle and pull gently up. If you experience any razor burn, try shaving in the direction of hair growth. You may not get a clean shave, but you’ll avoid soreness, red bumps and razor burn.
Do rinse the blade in between the process and be sure to keep the razor wet while you’re shaving.
If you cut your leg while shaving, get out of the bath quickly, as the hot water will increase blood flow. Rinse the area with cold water to slow down bleeding Dab the wound lightly with a styptic pencil. It will sting slightly, but the bleeding will stop. You can use a piece of tissue if you do not have a styptic pencil

Pedicures are fantastic -- They really make your feet look and feel so much better. I get a pedicure once a month but not a manicure.

Massage in a rich moisturizer such as shea butter. Add 1/4 teaspoon tea tree oil for an antibacterial effect. Add 3 drops of peppermint essential oil to relieve tired feet. Cover with socks for a deeper effect and softer feet.

-Make sure the foot tub and instruments are disinfected between each use.
Since microabrasion from a razor can allow bacteria and fungi into your bloodstream, do not shave just before a pedicure.

  18. When trimming nails, DO use a toenail clipper with a straight edge to ensure your toenail is cut straight across. Other tools like manicure scissors or fingernail clippers increase the risk of ingrown toenails because of their small, curved shape. See a podiatrist if you have a tendency to develop ingrown toenails.
