Skin care for dark complexion

Most Indians equate beauty with a fair complexion, which is absolutely wrong. This craze for a fair complexion can be seen on television channels which feature a plethora of fairness creams ads and also in matrimonial columns which stress on the fair complexion of the bride (never mind if the groom is dark-complexioned). When we see around us, we see so many beauties with a dark or a wheatish complexion and they just look so gorgeous. A blemish free clear face with sharp features is any day better than a dry, pale and sallow skin. The quality of the skin is more important than its color.

Kajol's old photo with dusky skin

If you have a wheatish or a dusky complexion then follow this simple skin care regimen.

* Keep your skin clean by using cleansing milk everyday. Wash your face twice a day with a gentle soap or a face wash (this home made face wash is also great) to take out the deep-seated dust and grime.

* If you have dark patches on your skin, make a thick paste of olive oil, ground gram, cold milk and a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply it on the patches and allow it to dry. Then wash. The patches will become lighter and vanish after some days if you use the paste regularly. (Also read: Help! The skin above my upper lip is dark!)

* Never try to use artificial cosmetic bleaching treatments regularly, to change the color of your skin. They can be dangerous and even ruin your skin permanently. Read My skin has become rough after bleaching, please help!

* For a healthy skin, take care of your general health. Take regular exercise or walk a few kilometers everyday.

* Drink plenty of water. At least once a month, take a mild laxative to keep your system clear. Avoid fried food and aerated drinks. Also refer to Foody tips and Weight reduction diet tips.

* If your have acne, then try not to squeeze the pimples. They may leave ugly marks. If you have an oily skin, then read through the post oily skin care for proper guidance on maintaining it.

* Use a suitable sunscreen to protect your skin during all seasons, not necessarily reserving it for the summer. Occasionally, massage a few drops of honey and almond extract on your face to give it a natural shine.

* In winter, mix a few drops of honey and lemon juice and massage gently on your face for a few minutes. Wash with lukewarm water after 10-15 minutes. It will leave your skin glowing.

For clear, good-looking and healthy skin, eat green beans soup. Not baked beans, but the kind of green beans that are used in Chinese shaved ice desserts. That's all I can do for natural treatments. And to keep your skin clear, you can go to a skin doctor and ask if he has any blemish cream or something. There might be some side effects, but it worked for my sister. Now she has no blemishes. And once your face is clear, wash the entire thing. Buy those little pads (professional!) and just wash with water and maybe some face cream thingy.

Skin whitening is a procedure in which the darker skin is made to look lighter. Though there are several techniques in whitening the skin, it is essentially done through the process of exfoliation i.e. getting rid of dead skin at the outermost layer of the skin and unveiling a new layer.

Diet plays an important role in improving the complexion and texture of the skin. Drink a glass of lemon juice daily. This contains Vitamin C, which improves the complexion. Include a glass of carrot juice or any mixed vegetable juice in your daily diet.
Soak fenugreek (methi seeds) in a glass of water overnight. Drink the water and eat the seeds the next morning. This not only improves the complexion but also acts as a pain-reliever. Include one green leafy vegetable daily in your diet. This contains a lot of iron and micronutrients and helps to get rid of dark circles under the eyes.
Take honey in some form. If you are plump, take a glass of honey and juice of half a lemon in water at room temperature. Alternatively, you can add honey to your toast instead of jam. Honey has Vitamin B-Complex that is essential for good skin colour. Yoghurt is a wonder food. Eat it as well as use it to massage your skin. It tones up both dry and oily skin

It was so interesting to get to know that fair complexion could be equated with beauty! I'm a girl from the Ukraine. Me and most of our people have fair complexion. Sometimes it looks nice. But it suits not all people and they look pale, while tanned skin looks much better! Many find dark complexion more stylish & sexy! So it is!!! That's why almost all people, especially women strive for the tanned skin. in summer we roast on the beach and in colder seasons we spend a lot of time in solariums to get more preferable dusky skin!

Highly Effective Indian Home remedies For Delayed Periods

Delayed periods or Irregular menstrual periods have become very common these days for a lot of women in their reproductive age and they suffer great agonies when their period does not come on time. A delay of 4-5 days may be fine but if it exceeds 8 days, then it's certainly a cause for concern. In this post, I'll be sharing highly effective Indian home remedies for your delayed periods . I'd been a long sufferer of irregular periods during my teenage to early twenties. I've tried most of the recipes here, along with Kapalabhati pranayama, yoga poses, mudras and other lifestyle habits. Now my periods are extremely regular like clockwork; not a day less or more than 28. When I look back, I'm surprised how I managed those years of anxiety and fear about my late periods.

11 things you can do with olive oil

Besides lemon , milk , sugar , aloe , turmeric , sandalwood and honey , olive oil is another household item that has multifarious uses as a beauty aid. It is a mild, non-irritant, antibacterial oil that is rich in antioxidants; hence is ideal for the skin. Here are a few things that you could do with olive oil .

Home remedies for sleeplessness

The day dawns beautifully for those who have had a night of good sleep. But the same day drags on for those who have spent a disturbing, sleepless night. Sleep is a biological necessity even as eating and drinking are. Sufficient sleep renders a person normally sociable, lively and high-spirited. It’s a nature’s way of rejuvenating the person for the next day. Realize all this, and make sleep a physiological habit. The consequences of long time sleep deprivation can be very grave. Lack of sleep takes its toll on the skin and hair. It causes acne-breakouts and makes one look aged and haggard beyond years. Experts opine that during sleep as our metabolic rate falls, blood goes to those areas which need the most repairing. This also steps up the production of collagen and keratin, which aid the regeneration of skin cells and help resist premature ageing. So for a younger looking and a problem free skin you need to have a good quality of sleep every night.

Get rid of head lice with these home remedies

Lice infestation is such a bothersome, distracting and embarrassing problem. Surely everyone harbors them at one time or the other. It is usually common among school children but soon spreads to other members of the family. Contrary to popular belief, it is not a sign of poor hygiene, as lice are not fussy whether they lay their eggs in clean or dirty hair. But yes, a dirty scalp can well serve as a perfect breeding ground for these tiresome creatures. Lice get transferred easily from child to child owing to the close contact of heads, during play, while sitting together or by sharing caps. Though there are many chemical and herbal over-the-counter preparations to remove lice, it is better to refrain from using them for they might also remove a good bit of your hair, while others could have a drying effect on the hair.  There are many home-remedies which do work well but the age-old method of regular combing with a close-toothed comb on all counts, is the most eff...
