Caring for the skin in winter

Winter is very cruel on the skin. Dehydration, chapping and scaling are very common. Winter tends to tax the skin much more than any other season. The hot winter sun outdoors and the overuse of heaters and blowers, taking hot water showers – all these wreak havoc on the skin.

So, plan a special skin care routine to suit the weather – be generous with your moisturizer and lubricants in it. Your night creams, hand and body lotion, cleanser and toner, all these should be rich and creamy. Creams containing Vaseline and liquid paraffin are most effective in keeping the skin moist. Aromatherapy products are also excellent for your skin. So, don’t hesitate to splurge in them.

Pour a bit of baby oil or any luxurious aromatic oil to your bath water. Make sure that your bath water is lukewarm and not too hot. Also, applying olive oil or a rich body lotion, immediately after bathing moisturizes the skin. Use Vaseline or any good foot care cream for cracked heels.
You must also have a special bedtime routine during winter, regardless of how lazy or cold your feel, or how later a night you have had. The danger of not cleansing and nourishing the skin at bed time should never be underestimated, especially if you have used heavy make-up. Clean the skin thoroughly with a good aromatic cleanser. Remove the cleanser and massage in a good nourishing skin cream. Wipe your skin clean off the cream before you sleep.

Treat yourself to a good hydrating mask once a week. Two tablespoons of fresh cream with a teaspoon of honey, a few drops of oil of jojoba or sandalwood makes a wonderful hydrating mask. You can apply this mask on hands and feet. It makes the skin super smooth and soft. For chapped lips, read the post Lip-care in winter.

  3. A great natural way to remove skin tags and moles is to use a string of some sort and wrap it around the base of the skin tag or mole. Naturally this is meant for larger moles and skin tags.

Highly Effective Indian Home remedies For Delayed Periods

Delayed periods or Irregular menstrual periods have become very common these days for a lot of women in their reproductive age and they suffer great agonies when their period does not come on time. A delay of 4-5 days may be fine but if it exceeds 8 days, then it's certainly a cause for concern. In this post, I'll be sharing highly effective Indian home remedies for your delayed periods . I'd been a long sufferer of irregular periods during my teenage to early twenties. I've tried most of the recipes here, along with Kapalabhati pranayama, yoga poses, mudras and other lifestyle habits. Now my periods are extremely regular like clockwork; not a day less or more than 28. When I look back, I'm surprised how I managed those years of anxiety and fear about my late periods.

Home remedies for sleeplessness

The day dawns beautifully for those who have had a night of good sleep. But the same day drags on for those who have spent a disturbing, sleepless night. Sleep is a biological necessity even as eating and drinking are. Sufficient sleep renders a person normally sociable, lively and high-spirited. It’s a nature’s way of rejuvenating the person for the next day. Realize all this, and make sleep a physiological habit. The consequences of long time sleep deprivation can be very grave. Lack of sleep takes its toll on the skin and hair. It causes acne-breakouts and makes one look aged and haggard beyond years. Experts opine that during sleep as our metabolic rate falls, blood goes to those areas which need the most repairing. This also steps up the production of collagen and keratin, which aid the regeneration of skin cells and help resist premature ageing. So for a younger looking and a problem free skin you need to have a good quality of sleep every night.
