No one can deny the fact that eyes are a mirror of general health and the most expressive features of the face.
Modern lifestyle wreaks havoc on them and robs them of their luster. They need to be weaned away from television and computer screens forcibly and exercised once in a while to loosen the surrounding strained and contracted muscles to ensure that they get adequate blood circulation and nerve force.
This can be achieved by including a few eye exercises in our daily routine. Read about these in Eye-Yoga.
Simhamudra or the lion pose is another good exercise for the eyes.
But before proceeding to do that, you have to prepare yourself for it with a simple eye-pressing exercise.
First firmly close your eyes, almost squeezing them shut and exerting a bit of pressure this way.
Count to 12. Then relax your eyes by keeping them closed effortlessly for a while.
Then start with simha mudra (lion-pose). Keep your spine erect and head straight. Open your mouth as wide as you can and bring your tongue out as much as possible.
Then look at the ceiling without moving or raising your head. Maintain this position and count to 12 slowly. T
hen return to the original position. Rest your eyes for a short while by keeping them closed.
For the first few days repeat these two exercises alternately, three times each. Slowly increase it to four or five times. But don’t increase the number of repetitions beyond that.
After completing these exercises do palming for about a minute or 100 counts.

In people with refractive errors, exercising extraocular muscles applies certain pressure on eye balls which can result in changing shape back to normal. Also exercising ciliary muscle leads to better acommodation.

If you are considering a vision training program, request a written report detailing the problem, the proposed treatment plan, an estimate of the time and costs involved, and the prognosis. If the plan is not targeted toward a specific visual problem (such as amblyopia), or if it includes a broad promise such as improving I.Q., forget about it."
