For sure, you have heard of these tips umpteen times before but then how many of you actually cared to follow them? Yet when gorgeous Mane Stylist Coleen Khan Affonso recommends them, you simply can't afford to ignore her advice.
Coleen Khan Affonso's top tips for better hair:
- Trim your hair once in a month to minimize split ends.
- Don't use a blow-dryer to dry your hair. If at all you have to use it, do so minimally. Anyway, It's always better to air-dry and your hair will surely thank you for it.
- Deep condition your hair twice a month.

hair mask are great to moisturize and soften the hair so do it once a week.
ReplyDeleteMake sure to conditioned your hair most of the time since dyed hair leads to dryness of hair.
ReplyDeleteI love to rinse my hair in iced camomile tea with lemon. It makes my hair really shinny and silky. Oh and it helps add highlights.
ReplyDeleteWrap your hair in a satin or silk scarf to prevent damage before you go to bed.
ReplyDeleteDo a hot oil treatment at least once a month with extra virgin olive oil...repeat
ReplyDeleteEat healthy, drink lots of water, a diet with lean protein can help..this is easy for me since i love meat. take multivitamins, and fish oil pills you can get from GNC.
ReplyDeleteour hair will be healthier if you wash it only every other day, not every day. then it wont get too dried out. but maybe you already do...
ReplyDeleteNo perms and wash it every Sunday or so. Also, straight it with a hot comb.
ReplyDeleteAvocado Is Ultra great for hair! :) I went natural recently and I mainly use Delizioso Natural Shampoos on my hair. They have avacado, aloe juice and a whole other bunch of stuff which keeps my hair looking ultra hot!
ReplyDeleteI usually just trim off the split ends one by one but u have to have a lot of patience lol. Dry damaged hair splits easier...
ReplyDeleteDon't brush ur hair when wet
Don't ruffly dry ur hair with a towel
Don't use rubber bands
Don't over brush.makes friction
Don't use hot irons
Don't use hair dryers
And don't dye or perm
Go all natural
Trim your hair regularly—half an inch a month at the most and every three or four months at the least. Clipping the ends keeps the strands healthy and strong. At the same time, it removes split ends.eat healthy. Limit the amount of chemicals you put in your hair. Over use of perms and color can damage the hair shaft. Massage your scalp regularly to stimulate blood circulation in the scalp to promote growth.
ReplyDeleteIt really depend on what temps you straighten your hair. If you straighten it so hot that steam comes out (like you see in those salons) or do so until your hair stays really hot for over 15 mines or so then your straightening your hair way too much and can be damaging (ie burning) the roots! You shouldn't need to straighten your hair Monday to Friday, (let alone Saturday!) take a couple intervals or maybe use gel to keep it down? I'd just say straighten a little less, only after washing it (and never on dry hair because this damages it) and put the heat on lower and the blow power on higher. Besides, curly hair is nice! (straight hair's over rated) :) Head and shoulders is good, but you may want to use the version for damaged hair to make sure that heat doesn't cause any problems. Oh, and make sure you apply shampoo-condition twice, because the first time you apply it, it just washes the top layer. If you've got curly hair the odds are that it's thick, so use it twice to get to the roots. Hope this helped! (Oh, don't worry my hair's not white because of too much straightening, it's not even white in real life
ReplyDeleteDon't wash your hair everyday. I had them in two years ago and I only washed my hair every three days or so. Use a pick to comb out your hair, not a brush. Don't pull on them too much. Your stylist should be able to recommend a good shampoo and conditioner for you. That makes a difference. It would suck to spend all that money on extensions and then have them go to waste.
ReplyDeleteThe only way you could damage your hair, is with bleach, I've been getting highlights for years and my hair is just as soft and healthy as it was when it was untouched. And I have a full head of blonde highlights, no worries! You're hair is going to look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI always rinse my hair in cold water :))) it gets so pretty and shiny
ReplyDeleteits best to use a round hair brush made with ceramic. it will add shine to your hair, dry faster when used with a hair-dryer, and add volume to your hair.
ReplyDeletechi is the best straightener to use. the more expensive, the better. straighteners are something to splurge on. the heat will be more evenly distributed, causing less damage.
massage your scalp because it encourages the roots of your hair to grow. also putting mayonnaise and/or honey in your hair helps. i know it sounds weird, but I've tried it and it works!
ReplyDeleteDrink water, eat green vegetables, make sure to get vitamin C and you can even take vitamins every morning, get your sleep
ReplyDeletemassage your scalp to stimulate the nerves.
Proper high protein diet ,fruits salads, leeafi veg will help ur bod to grow ur hair, regular trimming ,hot oil treatment mild shampoo will help u
ReplyDeleteA lot of times, the only way to save breaking hair is to cut it. Chopping the ends will prevent the hair from splitting the rest of the way up the hair shaft. Using products with keratin, not heat styling, and not pulling hair into a tight ponytail when it's wet can help as well. Joico K-Pak is a great line for severely damaged hair.
ReplyDeletevitamins and minerals will make your hair grow. Your hair on average grows 1/2 an inch each month
ReplyDeleteThe best way to get your hair to grow is to focus on your diet. Protein and healthy fats are very important.
ReplyDeleteToo much sun can also cause split ends and more damage to your hair. Avoid excess sun exposure.
ReplyDeleteA few foods that promote healthy hair are eggs, salmon, beans, dark green vegetables, and dairy.
Don't apply heat to it as frequently (once a week maximum) , don't shower too often(natural oils are retained instead of being dry idk, it just helps lol.) well you can wash ur bod, just not your hair.
ReplyDeleteAlso, deep condition your hair once in a while, and use mane n tail shampoo & conditioner (but not EVERY single time you shower because it can dry out hair). some people take vitamins but i don't really think that'll have a big effect.
I honestly do all of this ( during the summer especially ) and my hair grows reallly fast!
Let your hair be absolutely natural! dont do anything to it. just shower every other day and then let it aire dry...NOTHING ELSE.
ReplyDeletereally helpful blog, thanks
ReplyDeletedeep conditioning is extra-important in summer. A deep conditioning mask helps tame the frizz, and infuses bouts of moisture into your hair to keep it looking healthy and shiny, as opposed to dull and lifeless. Use masks with an avocado or honey base for this purpose.
