7 Ways to Improve Your Skin Tone Naturally

Your skin tone determines a lot about your beauty and appearance. Having a splotchy, spotted or irritated face can make your makeup look worse or just give you an uneven appearance. However there are a lot of natural ways to help your face regain its even skin tone. From removing acne marks to evening out oily or dry skin, here are some natural remedies you can make at home:

Dull Skin – To make your skin bright again, you only need three ingredients. Apple cider vinegar, mineral water, and plain aspirin. Dilute ½ ounce of apple cider vinegar with 4 ounces of mineral water. Crush five aspirin and add to the water/vinegar mix. Apply to your face, let sit for two minutes and then rinse off. You face should be dull no more!

Acne Scars – As a teenager and young adult we all seem to get acne. Some of those flare-ups leave behind scarring. To even out your skin and fade the scars, try this simple recipe. Four teaspoons of lemon juice (fresh is best), 3 teaspoons of plain yogurt, 4 tablespoons of honey, and one egg white. Apply the mixture to your clean face, let sit for 15 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. Repeated applications several times a week should fade your scars in no time!

Dry Skin – This easy recipe to counter dry skin only has two ingredients: 2 tablespoons of real mayonnaise and one teaspoon of baby oil. Combine both ingredients and smooth onto your face or wherever your skin is dry. Leave on for 20 minutes and then rinse off.

Oily Skin – If you have oily skin instead, try this recipe. Combine one avocado, 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice, and one egg white into a paste. Apply the paste to your face and allow it to dry. Then rinse it off with cool water.

Exfoliate – Exfoliation is a great way to even skin tone by removing dead cells. A simple and natural exfoliate can be made with oats. Just grind a small amount of oats in a coffee grinder, food processor, or blender. Add in a few tablespoons of milk and a dash of honey. Massage the paste into your skin in circular movements and then rinse off.

Tighten – We all know that cucumbers are used to tighten up the skin around your eyes, but did you know that combining cucumber juice with lavender essential oils was a great way to both tighten your skin and even up your skin tone? In a blender put one whole, unpeeled cucumber (well washed) and puree 30 seconds or until an even consistency is reached. Add one half teaspoon lavender oil for every cup of cucumber juice. Apply to your face and leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. Then rinse with cool water. You’ll smell great when you are done and your face will be smooth and even!

Sunscreen –Last but not least, always make sure you use sunscreen under your makeup every day. Sunscreen is vitally important in keeping your face from getting sun damage like spots and wrinkles. The more you protect your face, the more even your skin tone will stay.

  3. Pure, unrefined shea butter will definitely even your skin tone. However, it isn't cheap and you may not find it in the drug store.

Drinking plenty of water, eating fresh fruits and veggies, and getting regular exercise also go a long way in improving the tone of your skin.

  5. massage your face - it can really help with circulation. There are excercises as well, like opening your mouth very wide and sticking out your tongue, then scrunching your mouth closed. But they are controversial, in that they may also cause wrinkles. Nothing but surgery helps bags under eyes.

Its all about maintenance. Cleanse your skin well but don't use abrasive products or sponges. Do exfoliate all over with a sugar & water paste or gentle product made for skin. Moisturize all over daily and/or whenever your skid feels or looks dry. Vaseline or products with natural plant oils are best for dry skin. They nourish and moisturize fast and well. Stay out of the sun and use sunblock when possible. In short, care for your skin and give it the attention it needs.

Neutrogena skin care products work pretty well.
But if you have tried a lot of stuff and nothing helps then see a dermatologist, I go to one and it helps.

I use mostly DermalMD facial products it's good for skin tone. This feels good, wears well, and does the job. I believe my skin is better now than before. Also, Neutrogena always gets good ratings, and is recommended by my dermatologist.

Aspirin for acne-prone skin

Aspirin has been around for a long time and its health benefits are wide and varied. Aspirin , or acetylsalicylic acid is a salicylate drug, often used as an analgesic to relieve minor aches and pains , as an antipyretic to reduce fever , and as an anti-inflammatory medication. Aspirin's greatest benefit is reducing cardiovascular events including heart attacks and strokes. According to the American Heart Assoc. virtually all women are at risk of heart disease and doctors should more strongly consider prescribing a daily aspirin for their female patients. There is growing evidence to suggest regular aspirin use may reduce cancer and dementia as well. Investigators from the Women's Health Study have reported important new findings demonstrating that aspirin reduces the risk of a first stroke in women. When given to someone immediately after a heart attack, aspirin decreases death by 25%.

Lemon as a beauty aid

The diminutive lemon is a very versatile beauty-aid and this cheap and golden-coloured fruit has excellent properties for enhancing your looks. Simple lemon-based preparations, you can mix in your own kitchen, will surely bring a dramatic transformation in your beauty regimen.

Aloevera, the wonder herb

Of all the herbs available in the kitchen garden, aloe is perhaps the richest in healing properties and has been rightly named the “first-aid” plant. It has moisturizing and emollient properties and is used in cosmetic creams, sun-lotions, shaving creams and face packs. It can easily be cultivated as a house-plant in a sunny warm spot with good drainage. Cosmetologists mix aloe with several other herbs and draft fancy names for it. Then these “herbal” avatars are sold at exorbitant prices. Growing a plant and using fresh gel is much more effective than bottled gel, simply because it is alive and therefore is more potent. It is the only plant whose extract is applied directly from plant to face in its natural and purest form.

I Tried a Headache Balm and Ended Up with Rashes

I do have this habit of slathering pain balms whenever I have a headache. But never did I get a skin reaction or rashes from it. It so happened that I had an extremely severe headache a few months ago.  The pain was so unbearable that I gingerly reached out for a pain balm kept on my bedside table and kept on slathering it repeatedly all over the temples of my forehead. Next morning, after I woke up, I found that the skin on my forehead was peeling off and worse there were red rashes!  This was the first time in my life that I was getting rashes from applying a pain balm on my forehead !  I have never had any pain balm allergy or as such!  Side-effects due to application of a pain balm  was something I've never come across all these years! I usually use pain balms of reputed companies – my usual favourites are Tiger balm, Amrutanjan, Zandu balm and Sloan’s balm.  This time I had used Tiger balm. But why did it  give me rashes now, when I had used it...
