Many perceive it as a technique concerned with proper posture and stretching, but this old-age practice believed to be originated from ancient India, combines mediation, exercise and proper breathing to unite elements of the human body. Pilates, on the other hand, is focused on attaining physical wellness. This normally involves muscle conditioning, but other forms can include flexibility and corer strength. However, there are six principles – centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow that makes Pilates unique. Before Pilates became a one of the most popular fitness trend today, it was developed in the early 1900’s by Joseph Pilates.

Different forms and styles Yoga and Pilates are available in different variations. Since yoga leans more into emotional, spiritual and physical well-being, the usual styles includes proper stretching, breathing and posture that invigorates the body, spirit and mind to reach a peaceful state. Pilates is somewhat similar with Yoga, but the workout doesn’t completely rely on stretch movements. It is often utilized with the help of exercise machines such as springs and pulleys. This allows you to target specific muscle area without bulking up. This is why many dancers and ballerinas choose Pilates as it gives leaner but stronger physique.

Health benefits
The two forms also provide different benefits for the body. For instance, yoga can help effectively manage respiratory problems as it encourages optimum air flow in the lungs. Proper breathing can also remove harmful toxins that endanger different body systems. Physically, yoga stretches and positions can promote muscle tone, flexibility and even strength. The mediation can revitalize tired mind and emotional health, relieving every day stress from work or personal life. As for Pilates, it encourages the body to function normally. In fact, it is often used as a therapeutic movement for individuals suffering from walking difficulties.

Aloevera, the wonder herb

Of all the herbs available in the kitchen garden, aloe is perhaps the richest in healing properties and has been rightly named the “first-aid” plant. It has moisturizing and emollient properties and is used in cosmetic creams, sun-lotions, shaving creams and face packs. It can easily be cultivated as a house-plant in a sunny warm spot with good drainage. Cosmetologists mix aloe with several other herbs and draft fancy names for it. I Tried a Headache Balm and Ended Up with Rashes

I do have this habit of slathering pain balms whenever I have a headache. But never did I get a skin reaction or rashes from it. It so happened that I had an extremely severe headache a few months ago.  The pain was so unbearable that I gingerly reached out for a pain balm kept on my bedside table and kept on slathering it repeatedly all over the temples of my forehead. Next morning, after I woke up, I found that the skin on my forehead was peeling off and worse there were red rashes!  This was the first time in my life that I was getting rashes from applying a pain balm on my forehead !  I have never had any pain balm allergy or as such!  Side-effects due to application of a pain balm  was something I've never come across all these years! I usually use pain balms of reputed companies – my usual favourites are Tiger balm, Amrutanjan, Zandu balm and Sloan’s balm.  This time I had used Tiger balm. But why did it  give me rashes now, when I had used it...
