Buy the Right Hair Dryer for Your Hairstyle

If you are shopping for a new hair dryer, you should know that not all hair dryers are created equal. Moreover, a high price tag is not always a guarantee of high quality. When you shop for hair dryers, you should only buy one that is perfect for your hairstyle. Otherwise, you will end up with dry and damaged tresses.

You see, heat is the enemy of hair. Too much heat exposure will boil away the moisture in your strands and cause them to frizz. Eventually, the lack of moisture will make your tresses rough to the touch and split at the ends.

How do you know that the dryer you are purchasing is the right one for your hair? To answer that, you have to figure out what kind of hair you have. Read on to find out what kind of dryers go with what type of hair.

Thick, Coarse or Curly Hair
Thick and coarse hair generally has more durable strands. But because of its volume, it is not as easy to dry.

So if you have thick and coarse hair, you have no choice but to spend a little more time drying your tresses. Doing so becomes even more of a challenge when your hair is both thick and curly, as curly tresses are more susceptible to drying.

What kind of hair dryer should you buy if your hair is of this type? You need a dryer that produces strong air flow. Strong air flow means you can dry your hair a lot faster. It will save you time, and it will help you dry your tresses more evenly.

You should also invest on a diffuser attachment for your hair dryer if your strands are coarse, thick or curly. The diffuser will distribute the heat more evenly around your head. This will prevent one section of your hair from over-drying while other sections are still damp.

Thin and Delicate Hair
When your strands are thin and delicate, they are very prone to breakage. Tugging them or exposing them to too much heat will cause them to split at the ends and break off easily. Thus, you have to limit the amount of heat your hair is exposed to.

So, if you have thin and delicate hair, you need to get a hair dryer that has multiple heat and speed settings. Then you use the lowest heat setting and the fastest speed setting when you are drying your hair. Doing so minimizes your hair's exposure to heat. It also dries and styles your hair more efficiently without robbing your strands of moisture.

Other Considerations for Buying Hair Dryers
As mentioned earlier, price is not a guarantee of quality when it comes to hair dryers. So when you are shopping for a dryer, you should consider the following points:

1. Choose a dryer with combined ceramic and ionic heating technologies. Professional hairdressers prefer such combination dryers because they are the most effective at drying hair. Ceramic dryers produce gentle heat that penetrates the hair shaft rather than heating the strand from the outside. It is the safest way of blow-drying hair. Ionic heating, on the other hand, produces negative ions. Negative ions on hair coax the cuticles to stay flat, thus locking nutrients and moisture inside the hair shaft. Your hair will stay softer and shinier that way.

2. If you can afford it, buy a dryer with tourmaline technology as well. Tourmaline allows your dryer to produce more negative ions. This helps dry your hair a lot faster. It also keeps your hair softer and shinier.

3. Look for a dryer with a cool shot button. The cool shot button allows you to blast your hair with cold air. The cold air closes and locks the cuticles on your hair strands, thus preventing moisture from drying out.
Blowing cold air on your hair also locks in your hairstyle so it will stay in place for longer periods.

4. Pick a blow dryer with an ergonomic design. Ergonomic hair dryers are easier to handle. They reduce the stress and prevent injury on your hands.

Always buy the right hair dryer for your hairstyle. Styling becomes effortless when you use the right dryer for your hair. You also get to enjoy tresses that are soft, smooth and healthy all the time. So, invest in the right blow dryer for your hair today.

Aloevera, the wonder herb

Of all the herbs available in the kitchen garden, aloe is perhaps the richest in healing properties and has been rightly named the “first-aid” plant. It has moisturizing and emollient properties and is used in cosmetic creams, sun-lotions, shaving creams and face packs. It can easily be cultivated as a house-plant in a sunny warm spot with good drainage. Cosmetologists mix aloe with several other herbs and draft fancy names for it. Then these “herbal” avatars are sold at exorbitant prices. Growing a plant and using fresh gel is much more effective than bottled gel, simply because it is alive and therefore is more potent. It is the only plant whose extract is applied directly from plant to face in its natural and purest form.

I Tried a Headache Balm and Ended Up with Rashes

I do have this habit of slathering pain balms whenever I have a headache. But never did I get a skin reaction or rashes from it. It so happened that I had an extremely severe headache a few months ago.  The pain was so unbearable that I gingerly reached out for a pain balm kept on my bedside table and kept on slathering it repeatedly all over the temples of my forehead. Next morning, after I woke up, I found that the skin on my forehead was peeling off and worse there were red rashes!  This was the first time in my life that I was getting rashes from applying a pain balm on my forehead !  I have never had any pain balm allergy or as such!  Side-effects due to application of a pain balm  was something I've never come across all these years! I usually use pain balms of reputed companies – my usual favourites are Tiger balm, Amrutanjan, Zandu balm and Sloan’s balm.  This time I had used Tiger balm. But why did it  give me rashes now, when I had used it...
