We carry staph bacteria as part of natural flora of our skin with ourselves everywhere we go. These bacteria can travel from one person to another in the form of physical contacts. Sometimes when the pathogenic bacteria enter the human body it can result in worst staph infections such as cellulitis, folliculitis, impetigo, herpes and carbuncles.

Let’s explore various methods to prevent and treat staph infections by home remedies.

Cellulitis
A particular kind of staph infection caused by bacterium Staphylococcus aureus affecting skin at deeper layers is called Cellulites.

Fortunately cellulitis can be treatable with homemade remedies.
Home Remedies:
  • Proper skin care is significant here. It involves regular use of moisturizer. Use a cleanser and a moisturizer at any open sores.
  • One of the best and simplest ways to treat staph infections is, by washing the cut of the skin with soap and water immediately, once the skin breakdowns.
  • Another remedy is by applying an antibacterial cleanser to the wounded area of the skin and keep the wound dressing consistently dry. Always keep an antibacterial cleanser at home.
Folliculitis
This is a type of infection dealing with hair follicles that produce small white-headed pustules.

Home Remedies:
  • Applying turmeric to the affected area could work wonderfully well.
  • Try to always wear loose-fitting clothes if you are prone to Folliculitis.
  • It is highly recommended to use an anti-bacterial soap before shaving.
Impetigo
This particular infection refers to those patches of small blisters and pustules that become crusty after breaking open.

Home Remedies:
  • Add a few drops of tea tree oil to your bath water.
  • Try mixing calendula oil and vitamin E and apply the application to the affected areas.
  • Place a bandage over the infected area in order to prevent sores from spreading.
Herpes
An infection caused due to herpes viruses affecting the skin with blisters.

Home Remedies
  • One of the best ways to relieve pain is by applying ice to the sores.
  • Placing cold tea bags of Goldenseal and Echinacea on the sores should also work.
  • Take some cotton and damp it in baking soda. Apply it directly on the infected area.
Carbuncles
It is a group of boils that form deep in the skin.

Home Remedies:
  • Place a warm and not too hot tea bag at the place of a boil at least for 15 minutes a time, several times a day
  • Interestingly you can even cut a thick slice of an onion and place it over the concerned boil. Do not forget to change the onion in every three to four hours.
  • A paste of turmeric can be applied to the boils.
Suffering from above mentioned Staph Infections could be disheartening if not prevented and treated. Maintain good hygiene and prevent staph infections for the rest of your lives.

  1. Great post! I had lots of fun reading it. Speaking of skincare, would you happen to have a review of Vain Pursuits? I've started hearing about them and would love to know what you have to say about them :)

Aloevera, the wonder herb

Of all the herbs available in the kitchen garden, aloe is perhaps the richest in healing properties and has been rightly named the “first-aid” plant. It has moisturizing and emollient properties and is used in cosmetic creams, sun-lotions, shaving creams and face packs. It can easily be cultivated as a house-plant in a sunny warm spot with good drainage. Cosmetologists mix aloe with several other herbs and draft fancy names for it. Then these “herbal” avatars are sold at exorbitant prices. Growing a plant and using fresh gel is much more effective than bottled gel, simply because it is alive and therefore is more potent. It is the only plant whose extract is applied directly from plant to face in its natural and purest form.

I Tried a Headache Balm and Ended Up with Rashes

I do have this habit of slathering pain balms whenever I have a headache. But never did I get a skin reaction or rashes from it. It so happened that I had an extremely severe headache a few months ago.  The pain was so unbearable that I gingerly reached out for a pain balm kept on my bedside table and kept on slathering it repeatedly all over the temples of my forehead. Next morning, after I woke up, I found that the skin on my forehead was peeling off and worse there were red rashes!  This was the first time in my life that I was getting rashes from applying a pain balm on my forehead !  I have never had any pain balm allergy or as such!  Side-effects due to application of a pain balm  was something I've never come across all these years! I usually use pain balms of reputed companies – my usual favourites are Tiger balm, Amrutanjan, Zandu balm and Sloan’s balm.  This time I had used Tiger balm. But why did it  give me rashes now, when I had used it...
