It’s that time of the year again, when restaurants and motels get booked to full capacity, when singles roll their eyes in collective disdain, when you and your inamorato/inamorata clear the calendar to be with each other.
Valentine’s Day is here again, and it goes without saying that you should look your best then.
Here are some tips on how to look good on Cupid’s big day:
Make your skin game on point; prepare early. At least two weeks from February 14, start following a good skincare regimen, if you haven’t already. Use a facial cleanser of superlative quality, at least one that won’t dry your skin.
Then apply a high-quality toner and moisturiser, in that order. Do this twice a day. Don’t neglect to put on some sunscreen or sunblock when you go out. Once a week, apply an exfoliant to slough dead skin cells off.
Undergoing cosmetic surgery is no longer the taboo it was once considered to be. Research says that 78 percent of women are now open about wanting cosmetic procedures, especially Botox, for Valentine's Day.
In China, couples are known to go to plastic surgeons on or before Valentine’s Day to have matching noses and/or eyes. In fact, 30 percent of cosmetic surgery procedures nowadays are being marketed as gifts.
As Madonna would say, reinvent yourself. Get a new style for your mane, as much for yourself as your date. Invest in a blow-dryer of a great quality, as well as a dependable hair mousse. It’s amazing how a new hairstyle can refresh your outlook in life.
Effective immediately, curb your alcohol intake. Alcohol is a caloric landmine: A daiquiri contains around 450 calories, while one martini can give you 274 calories.
It’s terrible how one drink could spoil a day’s worth of exercise, isn’t it? Also, alcohol has a sneaky way of making you feel hungry. At least save your alcohol drinking on the 14th.
If there’s one thing you should be drinking, it’s water. Dehydration has been shown to cloud cognitive abilities, cause fatigue, and decelerate your metabolic rate. So drink lots, drink plenty. The rule of thumb is to imbibe the equivalent of half your body weight every day.
Taking in too much salt is a recipe for bloating. If you want to add taste to your food, substitute the salt for garlic, basil, thyme, and herbs.
No type of diet in the world can promote effective weight loss, or at least one that lasts, without exercise. You don’t have to have a fancy gym membership to reap the benefits of physical activity. In the run-up to the big day, you can do resistance exercises in the comfort of your home.
You don’t even have to splurge on pricey dumbbells. A good old’ push-up is all you need to push those muscles out of hiding. Do it now, do it every day. (As usual, consult your physician for routines suited to your health history.)
There’s a reason why it’s called beauty sleep. Our body needs sleep to not only recover but also keep our body weight in check. Sleep deprivation, on the other hand, has been shown to elevate insulin, which hastens the storage of fats.
While the eyes may be the most eye-catching part of your face, don’t neglect the part most likely to connect with your partner: the lips. Don’t just dab on that lipstick; use a lip primer or foundation. Finish off with lip gloss. In general, don’t go overboard with the makeup.
Look people in the eye, straighten your posture, and add some ‘attitude.’ Remember that confidence does not work itself from the outside. You have got to emanate it from within. Your partner will thank you for it.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love the skin you’re in.

Give the gift of plastic surgery.

Get a new do.
As Madonna would say, reinvent yourself. Get a new style for your mane, as much for yourself as your date. Invest in a blow-dryer of a great quality, as well as a dependable hair mousse. It’s amazing how a new hairstyle can refresh your outlook in life.
Ease up on the alcohol.
Drink lots of H2O.
If there’s one thing you should be drinking, it’s water. Dehydration has been shown to cloud cognitive abilities, cause fatigue, and decelerate your metabolic rate. So drink lots, drink plenty. The rule of thumb is to imbibe the equivalent of half your body weight every day.
Limit the salt.
Taking in too much salt is a recipe for bloating. If you want to add taste to your food, substitute the salt for garlic, basil, thyme, and herbs.
Exercise.

You don’t even have to splurge on pricey dumbbells. A good old’ push-up is all you need to push those muscles out of hiding. Do it now, do it every day. (As usual, consult your physician for routines suited to your health history.)
Get enough rest.
There’s a reason why it’s called beauty sleep. Our body needs sleep to not only recover but also keep our body weight in check. Sleep deprivation, on the other hand, has been shown to elevate insulin, which hastens the storage of fats.
On the big day...
Since your eyes are likely the first to be noticed, pay special attention to them. Get a high-quality mascara for both your lower and upper eyelashes. Apply a luminizer and highlighter on your skin, and do some contouring on your cheekbones with blush-on.While the eyes may be the most eye-catching part of your face, don’t neglect the part most likely to connect with your partner: the lips. Don’t just dab on that lipstick; use a lip primer or foundation. Finish off with lip gloss. In general, don’t go overboard with the makeup.
Keep it classy.
We can’t overemphasize the importance of body language. A beautifully made-up face is for zilch if your eyes are glued to the ground, your shoulders hunched.Look people in the eye, straighten your posture, and add some ‘attitude.’ Remember that confidence does not work itself from the outside. You have got to emanate it from within. Your partner will thank you for it.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
