Is Invisalign the New Plastic Surgery?

Since its debut in 1997, Invisalign has become the preferred way for teens and adults to straighten teeth and achieve healthy, beautiful smiles. Since Invisalign aligners are made of a clear plastic, they are virtually invisible to the naked eye. If you undergo an Invisalign treatment plan, you won’t have to worry about anyone knowing you are in the process of straightening teeth.

You can discreetly straighten your teeth and achieve a healthy smile without any metal or brackets in your mouth. Invisalign aligners can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing, meaning you can eat whatever you wish and keep your teeth and gums in tip-top shape with proper at-home care.

As long as you wear each set of aligners in your orthodontic treatment plan for at least 22 hours a day, your teeth will slowly but surely move into their proper positions. At the end of your orthodontic treatment plan, you’ll be left with a beautiful smile and be required to wear a retainer to ensure it lasts for years to come. While Invisalign treatment times vary from patient to patients, most patients can enjoy straight teeth in about a year. This is great news as traditional metal braces typically take longer to provide patients with their desired results.

Although Invisalign involves wearing “plastic” aligners, is a type of orthodontic treatment, and is chosen by many big names in Hollywood, it is not considered plastic surgery. There is no anesthesia or incisions involved. Invisalign is a non-invasive treatment that can improve your oral health and boost your confidence. If you’re interested in learning more about Invisalign or wondering whether you’re a good candidate, you may be surprised to learn that RV Orthodontics, an orthodontics office in Richmond, VA offers Invisalign and is a great place to go.
